It was fun watching the Golden Globes and sketching the people. It took much longer because I kept pausing the TiVo when I saw someone I wanted to sketch.

I was surprised to actually catch likenesses of some (but definitely not all) of the people. Laura Dern and Rob Lowe alluded me.

I wasn’t sure if it was just my TV or the angle of the cameras that filmed the show, but it seemed like all the movie stars had extra long heads. I doubt it was the camera that made all the female stars look soooo skinny. How sad it must be to have your art form require that you don’t get to eat.

It seemed like all the male directors and producers were wearing glasses with heavy, square, black frames, the kind that used to be considered nerd glasses and usually sported tape holding them together.

You got Rob Lowe’s eyes in the Still Not Rob Lowe…neat sketches! Back in my high school days (50 years ago), we called them Buddy Holly glasses…the guys all wore them.

By the time I was in high school those tiny John Lennon style glasses were in, and then after that came those huge giganto ones that seem to be back again. Jana

I definitely see some resemblance!! I started reading the Loomis book last night…but have done no sketching, except at work!

Love these, what a great idea! I tend to watch a lot of reality shows when drawing and painting, as a background noise, maybe I should start sketching contestants in those long ‘diary/confession room’ monologues.

haha! that sounds like fun, especially if they hold still (or you have a pause button–but that means you’re just drawing with the story stopped on the TV). Jana

I love them, Jana…I have tried to do things like this, myself, but the pause button never pauses long enough for me.

Does yours automatically go off pause? I guess mine does too, but it takes about 20 minutes and I was doing these really quickly. It’s so great having pause, fast forward and rewind on TV.

My pause goes off automatically very quickly. But it is still a great help. I love all those features, too.
