This was so much fun to draw with all the little details and decoration. I found it at a thrift shop when I was taking a long walk in El Cerrito and stopped in to browse. I expect to have more fun drawing and painting it again. It’s sitting on my drawing table enticing me to come back and draw.

Thanks for the fun comment. It inspired an idea to sketch my entire “inventory” of still life objects that fill a couple of cabinets. Jana

Thank you Ingrid! I visited your blog and found it interesting to read when Google translated it from German for me. I wonder how well they made the translation. It was rather poetic. Jana

Jana, Google behaves so strangely, sometimes, that I now call it GIGGLE.COM. It does a beautiful job on Ingrid’s blog. As you say, so poetic, and I enjoyed her work so much, tonight. Once I even read a Chinese blog that translated perfectly, but it goes nuts on the two Swedish blogs that I visit daily. Big puzzle.

When I read Jana’s remark, I had to look you up, too, Ingrid. I love the drawing of Icarus and the clever way you show his wings starting to melt.

Thanks Laura, I was actually thinking about your lines when I drew this–trying to channel a little Laurelines into mine! It’s so nice to hear from you. I know your time was very short and committed when you were in SF recently but if you do come out here again and have any extra time, I would love the chance to meet you and show you around my little part of the world (Berkeley…or Berzerkely as it’s commonly known…) Jana

Thanks Dee, I miss seeing your wonderful watercolor sketches on your blog, though I do see what you’re up to on Facebook from time to time. Do you have any plans to go back to blogging your sketches and art (I’m sure you’re still making them, just not blogging)? I still have a link to you on my blogroll in the hopes you’ll come back! Thanks for visiting! Jana

I love this! And that is exactly something that I would buy at a thrift store and I’d buy it for exactly the same reason — to draw it and paint it. Very lovely!!!
