Today is the last day of my first year of blogging. I’d hoped to finish the year off with a bang but a combination of day-job overload, exhaustion and aches and pains prevented me from posting the past few days.

I’m hoping that tomorrow (Saturday) I’ll feel up to joining the 14th Worldwide Sketchcrawl in San Francisco. My former watercolor teacher and dear friend Susan is planning to be there and I’m looking forward to seeing her too and having some good sketches to share on my blog.

I’m also doing a lot of thinking about my goals and intentions for my blog and my artwork in general for year two of my sketchblog. More about that on my blog birthday tomorrow.

Here are some blog statistics for the year ending today:

Jana, I had to laugh when you said you wanted to ‘finish the year of Blogging with a bang’. I imagined you ‘banging’ the lemon with hammer! All you would get is mushy lemonade!!! The visual is maybe not what you intended…. or is it??!!

Congratulations for completing your first year!
I hope the next one is just as colourful and full of inspiration.

congratulations! excellent stuff.
So are you going to be sketchcrawling? I’m in London this time, and have decided to do a small sketchcrawl here with a mate of mine.

Jana! you HAVE finished with a metaphorical bang! ( Hammer!) I think the juxtaposition of these two things is very witty indeed – even ifyou hadn’t intended it to be so. Really lovely stuff!

Wow I can’t believe that it just a year. I think I’ve told you before but yours was the first drawing blog I came across – and I was hooked from there on in. Since then – you and the other EDMbloggers – inspired me to start my own.

I awlays love a visit to your blog. You are so versatile and I really admire the way you let us into all your secrets – even your dreams!

This is a great painting for your first birthday. Love the colours used on the hammer. I look forward to al my future visits. AND one hundred thousand visitors – that’s mega!!

That’s a great hammer – I love the colour in the metal. I don’t understand the lemon but it looks very lemony. Congratulations on your first year – amazing stats!

I LOVE the light on your hammer! And yes, Happy BlogBirthday to you! I’m glad you’re there, yours is one I visit frequently (I’m not subscribed to any, so I just drop by when I can…)

Anyway, it’s a delight and so are you!

Congratulations! You’ve been one of the most devoted and consistent bloggers I’ve visited regularly. And it just occurred to me that my anniversary must be near. Lo and behold, two years ago today I made my first blog post, too! I’ve probably posted as much in those two years as you’ve posted in one, though.

Par-tay!

Wow! Thanks everyone. I hadn’t thought of the “bang” and the hammer–that’s so funny. The lemon and the hammer combination was inspired by Dee Farnsworth’s weather journal > where she combines the daily weather report and a completely unrelated watercolor sketch of a vegetable or fruit or anything really. I love those odd juxtapositions.

Hiya! This came out fantastic. I love how you used blue in the metal part of the hammer, that really brings out the metallic look of it. I, too, let computer-stuff take up too much time in my life and I am not taking care of my body. I NEED to. I am in physical therapy for my feet and I need to keep up the stretches and exercise (and lose weight) to keep my feet from getting bad again. Here’s hoping we both manage to take care of ourselves better! Hugs! 🙂

Hi! I found your blog through Google. I typed in the key words “paintings – baggage,” one of the paintings in your site appeared.

I’m glad I found your blog. It’s quite refreshing. I’m going to link you to mine now.

Thanks! You sort of made my Sunday evening. 🙂

Beautiful! And a very happy BloggerBirthday. Your stats are amazing — and I cracked up at the number of spam comments blocked. Who would have guessed that one?

Hi jana. I just found this entry of your blog several months later…. Thanks for the shout out about the weather sketchbook. I’m glad that you understand the randomness of the sketchbook. Some people just try too hard to figure out what the weather report has to do with say, a tomatoe, but it’s just like your hammer and lemon. Maybe I’ll paint that next.
Also, belated congrats on your blog’s longevity.
You get so many great comments!.
