Sexual Harassment Training

Today was mandatory Sexual Harassment Training for supervisors, presented by an attorney who looked a lot like Billy Bob Thornton. It was pretty stressful since I had a ton of deadline projects today.

At first I was anxious, worried about the work waiting for me in my office, knowing the meeting would be a total waste of time (which it was). Then I realized I could spend the time drawing which would be fun and relaxing so I pulled out my little Moleskine, which is so perfect for drawing in meetings.

They served a nice box lunch (not pictured above–this was someone’s snack during the meeting)  and we were supposed to sit and chat with each other while we ate about times we felt we felt unfairly labeled or harassed. I made sure my name was on the list of attendees, grabbed my box lunch and excused myself two hours early. I ended up working until 7:30 p.m. to get caught up and be ready for tomorrow.

Man, your week sounds like mine — if I could get my fingers away from all the redtape computer work and sketch I’d be much more relaxed!! I love your images of folks, Jana!!! Nicely done and a good use of your time!! LOL

Oh, isn’t it fun to sketch during “blah blah blah” meetings? Maybe I need a Moleskine in my purse; I always end up using the margins of the handouts.

Oh, I love those stolen, sketched moments, Jana, whether they’re on the train, in meetings, in waiting rooms. Yours are wonderful—I can tell they gave you a lot of pleasure.

I need to get a Moleskin, my sketchbook is just too obvious! I hate these meetings and especially the fact that once you’ve gone through it, you still have NEXT TIME to look forward too.

This is great, and inspiring; I always end up drawing whoever i see whenever i go to training, but it’s usually all over the handouts; now i have a moleskine too i might slip it in my bag when i’m next in a useless training session looking at some useless powerpoint that i will forget instantly. Hey, i can see from your pic that it’s a more effective form of note-taking (perhaps you should give a training class to that effect..)

Toni,
Yes, sometimes people see me, but mostly they don’t, especially with the little Moleskine–it’s small enough to be discreet. I’ve been pretty amazed how little people seem to notice.
