What She Said

Aletha Kuschan said something wonderful in her post, “There Are Bright Colors in the World”  (and in her painting below). She starts the post by saying:

“I like color. Color is what made me want to be an artist. Just looking at the color….”

And she says:

I paint to look at things.  And if my paintings say things, it is “look at this!” and “look at that!”  The world is so amazing to look at.  We ought to be looking at it all the time.

I read that and said “Yes!” Her artwork always inspires me with it’s freedom of expression and brilliant colors and her writing does the same. Do take a look and a read!

Look at me, look at me. Yes that’s how some paintings are and they are a pleasure. I tend to intensify colours these days whereas once I wanted soft subtle colours. And then occasionally I turn an image into something dark, brown, or grey and that’s part of it all as well. I had a strange week – first time in my life to have strong headaches, about twelve hours apart, six times. I looked up internet sites and there it was, about cluster headaches which link into the body time clock – all on the internet, in detail, and the doctor didn’t even seem to know about that kind!

Those headaches sound terrible. I hope they’re gone now. Mine are pretty predictable and fairly easily treatable with medicine that takes about an hour or two to work and then I’m ok. Jana

Thank you, Jana, for posting these pictures and the link. I’m glad that you felt inspired by what I wrote. I just got back from a trip out of town and am just now getting a look at this. What a fun surprise to return to!
