I was trying to figure out what was wrong with the toilet in the “cat bathroom” (my second bathroom where I keep the cat litter box). I took the lid off the tank and was watching the ball thingee go up and the flapper go down when I flushed it. My cats are fascinated with water and immediately had to crowd in to watch too. Busby jumped up on the sink and put his paws on the edge of the toilet tank so he could see and Fiona jumped on my back and watched from over my shoulder. I so wished there was someone there to take a photo of the three of us peering into the mysteries of the toilet tank. I tried to draw it instead.
Busby (the tabby cat) loves to watch a flushing toilet, though fortunately doesn’t flush it himself like this cat on YouTube. Fiona (the calico) often stands in the bathtub and meows for me to turn on the faucet so she can drink from it. Both of them used to sleep together curled up in the bathroom sink when they were kittens. I was never able to use the cat training technique of spraying them with water from a plant mister because they actually like the water. When I take a bath they hang out with me, walking back and forth on the edge of the tub, splashing paws into the water, playing with the bubbles. A couple times Fiona has slipped and fallen into the tub and then gone flying out of the bathroom spreading water all over the house.

OMG LOL I love this! I saw it on flickr. Our cat Crystal, a white Turkish Angora, LOVES to play w/ water and loves to jump on your back if you’re not careful. What a riot. 🙂

*LOL* Purrfect picture!!! You captured everyone beautifully, especially their curiosity. I once had two dogs who would stick out their tongues and lap water sprayed at them … it was a treat, not a punishment.

Those cats are such fun — and do the craziest antics that help put humor in our days! Super job portraying the scene, Jana! And I hope the toilet is finally fixed!!! My cat used to love to sleep in the sink – make me crack up whenever I saw her!

This is just priceless! Way better than a photo since you have the memory of the episode and the drawing of the episode, making it sort of . . . “episodic(?)”!

I was looking at all sorts of pics of cats yesterday when I took my work in for the Society of Feline Artists show next month (find out how I got on Sunday!) – but there weren’t any like this – although it would have been very nice if there were.
My boy cat is a total water cat. Sits next to the sink and has to have a dripping tap so he can bat the drips. Gets himself over to far rim of the bath – while I’m sat in it and it’s full of water – and then looks at me with the “What do I do next Mum?” look on his face, plays with the bubbles at bathtime as well (do you do the “shark attack with toes” routine?) – and ALWAYS has to be deterred from taking a drink from places where he shouldn’t!

Yep! That’s cats for you. Josh used to pee down the shower drain in our other house!
A Finnish friend had a cat that would stroll along the jetty then launch himself into the lake, swim around for a while, then climb out.
Hope you three got the loo working properly!

Katherine, I haven’t done the shark attack thing, no, but I have had to deal with that “I’m on the wrong side of the tub, now what…” situation, that often involves a slip into the tub and underwater claws. Also the trying to drink out of every wrong thing, like MY glass, watercolor water, toilets of course…
Tami, Thanks…I thought I uglified myself a bit in this drawing too.
Dinahmow….yes, it’s working fine now, thanks to a REAL plumber friend.
