After a day spent doing art business (finishing framing for the show I’m hanging Thursday evening, writing up the descriptions of the four flower paintings to be published in a book on flower painting, and sorting photos to make room on my hard drive) I needed to sit down for an hour and paint a pretty flower in watercolor to soothe my spirit.
I took the photo I painted from just a week ago when it was bright and sunny and my friend Judy’s Tulip Tree was in bloom. Today we’re back to winter with cold winds, sideways rain and gray skies.

I’ve just seen this on Flickr…and wow it’s so beautiful. I love this style of yours. It’s so opposite to what I do. I think what I’m trying to say is I’m jealous!!!

Oh my gosh — this is awesome! How in the world did you get those deep clear pinks? Are you using quinacridones? Or is it Aliz Crimson? Or would you be giving away a trade secret if you told?
😀 This is just gorgeous!

Thanks everyone — it was fun to do. Linda,
the reds are combinations of WN Permanent Magenta (it is a quinacridone), WN Permanent Rose (also a quin), WN Scarlet Lake and WN Dioxazine Violet.
