I had a migraine on May 11 and wore my jaunty blue migraine ice pack/wrap over a green scarf until the  meds kicked in. If I wear the ice pack without a scarf under it, the pain of my head freezing only makes the migraine feel better by comparison. The weight of the pack made my ears stick out which made it fun to draw them.

I should have left the pencil drawing unpainted. I think the color took away from the dimensionality I’d gotten with just pencil and white paper and now the shading looks like I’m growing a beard.

Dear Jana – I’m sorry about your migraine. But the description of your drawing made me laugh. You are very brave , you have beautiful eyes. Have a headache free day.

You are a dear. Thank you. Ice packs actually do help. Like the cartoon images of the guy with the hangover wearing an ice pack on his head–it’s true. Apparently hangovers are a form of migraine.

As a former migraine sufferer (retirement and daily meds ended that, I hope!), that look in your eyes told of the pain so vividly that I “almost” remembered what that used to feel like! Wow. . . you’ve captured that heavy intensity that weighs down over the brow and the frozen look one maintains so as to dare not move the eyes from side to side. Very heroic indeed to have been able to keep the lights on and draw this. Well done!. And thanks for sharing!

That must have been hard drawing while you have a headache..10 points for that one. One way to keep your mind off it.

Sorry to hear about your migraine I only get a couple a year thank goodness and seeing your great self portrait brings back memories of when one of my grandsons was born and I went to stay with my daughter for a week when she came home from hospital and then on the way back home to mine suddenly got an awful migraine whilst driving and luckily had a short time previously stopped to get a load of shopping so that when I got home would not have to go out again after a 2 – 3 hour drive depending on the traffic and ended up driving along with a packet of frozen peas on my head, go can only guess what other drivers must have thought but it worked
